Bruce Riley, Psychedelic Painter

So much of Rileys' work seems to have a biological look to it, as if your looking through a microscope at dust mites or different kinds of cells. Then there's the vibrancy within each area that contributes to the whole that captures your eyes and won't let go. Even more importantly than that though is the creation of motion that each evokes. Its as if you can still see the paint being poured on the canvas only to watch the colors evade or fuse into the different psychedelic patterns.

According to Riley creating something like this is all about keeping the flow and using immediate observation to guide the project. Its all about the moment.

In the spirit of thanksgiving I figured what better way to celebrate than to give a little thanks to our unknown friends that create the wild images we find on the streets that make our lives a little more interesting and our cities a little less bleak. From giant two story murals of intensely colorful geometric displays to the tiny skateboarders shredding some sign, I pray the creativity is never halted. So the next time you see a wall with a giant lizard or a sidewalk with miners crawling out of it, stop and really take the time to appreciate it.

Iris Scott, Finger-painter

So I saw this video and thought of all the different artists out there that don't stick to "traditional techniques". Iris seems to be an incredibly accomplished artist using, well what you used to do back in 1st grade. But what struck me was how it happened for her, that because she didn't want to clean a brush she just tried something else and was hit with a realization that it was something big for her. Creativity seems to strike when your most willing to make mistakes. Really great work!
